The North Bay stretches from the Scarborough Castle around to Scalby Mills. The "Cleaveland way walk" continues north from Scalby Mills up towards Ravenscar and beyond. It is considered one of the finest stretches of Heritage Coastline in the country.

The North Bay offers a wide range of activities. These include the "Sea Life Centre" at Scalby Mills. A miniature Railway, and "Chair Lift" that links Scalby Mills with the Peasholme Park entertainment areas. A heated outdoor swimming pool along with slides close to the Corner Cafe area, and much more... It may be worth while checking with operators to determine what activities are open during winter months.

The North Bay

The wide expanse of beach is great for games of football, cricket or building sand-castles. The many outcrops of rock-pools are ideal for spending many hours searching for crabs and small fish. The bay is popular with bathers, and a life guards is often on duty during the peak summer months. The bay is often used by surfers all year round.

Walks from the North Bay over Scarborough Castle or around Marine Drive to the South Bay offer stunning scenery and places to visit of historic interest. A whole host of hotels, "guest houses" and "B&Bs" over looking the bay and throughout Scarborough are available year round. It is best to book ahead during peak holiday seasons.

A bus service is available between the North bay and South bay beaches around Marine drive for those looking for a more leisurely way to view the coast.
